In cold ambient temperatures there is often a need to heat equipment such as pipelines, pipe junctions, pumps, gearboxes, etc.. In many such applications there is inadequate space to insert a heating element, or it may be impractical to do so due to location or length of pipe.
In such cases, or as a supplement to other heating methods, we recommend the use of trace-heating tapes or heating wires. The self-regulating tapes which we stock are in the main temperature sensitive, controlling the temperature of the equipment to be heated at a temperature of +5°C. we stock both self-regulating tapes and unregulated tapes and unregulated heating wires.
The self-regulating tapes are manufactured such that if more heat is needed at one part of the application there will be a higher heat output locally to accommodate that requirement. As the tape is regulated in this way, there will be no ‘hot spots’ in the tape which would otherwise cause tape failure.
